  • You need to make sure your watch has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a passcode, and wrist detection configured.

If you wear a face mask, the iPhone’s face ID is less effective in unlocking your cellphone automatically than it used to be. If you have an apple watch with Watchos 7.4 or newer and iPhone with iOS 14.5 or newer, you can still avoid entering a passcode: Apple Watch can automatically unlock your cellphone for you.

Open the iPhone key with an apple watch

Before turning on an automatic key to the Apple Watch feature, make sure your Apple Watch is properly prepared. It should be set correctly and paired with your iPhone. Then do this:

1. press the Digital crown to see the list of watch apps and tap the Settings app.

2.Crane Wi-Fi and make sure it’s enabled, with the button swiped to the right.

3. Press arrow back in the top left corner, then tap Bluetooth.

4. Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled, with the button swiped to the right.

5. Press arrow back.

6. If you haven’t set a passcode on your watch yet, tap Access code, crane Enable passcode and then enter a passcode twice to set it up.

7. While still in the Access code section, make sure Wrist Detection is turned on by swiping the button to the right.

Now it’s time to enable Unlock with Apple Watch.

8. On your iPhone, launch the Settings app.

9. Crane Face ID and Passcodeand then enter your phone’s passcode when prompted.

10. In the Unlock with Apple Watch section, turn the feature on by swiping the button next to your watch to the right.
